'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' to Include Female Stormtrooper

According to a journalist's tweet, 'Game of Thrones' actress Amybeth Hargreaves is allegedly cast as the soldier in the highly-anticipated movie.

AceShowbiz - "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" embraces diversity. After previously revealing a black stormtrooper, a new report suggests that the highly-anticipated movie will introduce first female stormtrooper. The news was shared by BBC journalist Lizo Mzimba who wrote on Twitter that "Game of Thrones" actress Amybeth Hargreaves was cast for the role. "Bit of @StarWars news from @SpotlightUK. Amybeth Hargreaves plays female Stormtrooper in The Force Awakens," he tweeted.

However, Mzimba seemingly is unsure whether Hargreaves is playing a female stormtrooper or a stunt double for Gwendoline Christie. "Wonder if Stormtrooper in own right, or perhaps filming a double if, as rumoured, @loveGwendoline plays a stormtrooper in Ep VII," he said in the next post. "In any case has made this @StarWars fan v happy! Female stormtroopers! Black stormtroopers! Great to see the Empire embracing diversity!"

The J.J. Abrams-directed movie will be released in the U.S. on December 18. It garnered hot response from fans when the teaser trailer was dropped late last year. According to a recent report, the second trailer will be attached to "Avengers: Age of Ultron" which arrives in U.S. theaters on May 1. Latino Review reported the new trailer would include appearances from the original stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.

Germain Lussier of /Film, however, received different scoop from his source. "I trust Latino Review when it comes to Star Wars stuff, but we SPECIFICALLY heard the original cast WON'T be featured in the marketing," he wrote on Twitter. "I heard they want to keep their roles a surprise, and the series isn't about them anymore."
