"The Celebrity Apprentice" returned with another two-hour episode on Monday, January 12. Titled "A Family Affair", the episode saw the two teams tasked with creating a four-page health/fitness spread for Cosmopolitan magazine. The judgment would be based on originality, creativity and overall presentation.
Johnny Damon served as project manager for the men's team, while Jamie Anderson stepped up to lead the women's team. The women decided to highlight sexiness. A clash soon started between Kenya Moore and Brandi Glanville as the latter was chosen as a model. During the photo shoot, Brandi initially refused to strip off and that made Kenya frustrated. Brandi eventually agreed to take off her clothes except for bra and panties.
At the men's team, they agreed with a selfie-based concept. Johnny and his wife Michelle were in charge of sexual poses, while Terrell Owens and a fitness model did exercise moves. Geraldo Rivera recreated his infamous nude selfie although Lorenzo Lamas worried it wouldn't "appeal to the demographic."
After the presentations, the men's team was declared the winner by the judges. Johnny won a donation for his Johnny Damon Foundation.
Jamie brought Kenya and Kate Gosselin with her to the boardroom, but she was eventually fired for not bringing Brandi back to the boardroom. "You do have a certain amount of indecision and you have made some mistakes. Jamie, you're fired," Donald Trump told her.
For the second challenge, the teams had to raise money by selling bridal gowns. Donald changed up the teams to mix the genders, with Terrell, Kenya, Brandi, Johnny and Leeza Gibbons in a team led by Ian Ziering, while Kate, Lorenzo, Vivica A. Fox, Shawn Johnson and Sig Hansen in the other team led by Geraldo.
While decorating the boutique, Brandi went MIA. She called Ian telling him that she had a panic attack and would do her emails from her hotel bed. She returned a day later and money started coming in. A $165,000 check came from one of Ian's donors and he was overcome with emotion.
At the other team, Kate vowed to bring in $50,000 although she was worried that the money wouldn't come in time again. Geraldo got some checks from his "Fox & Friends" colleagues, and a $100,000 check from billionaire Stewart Rahr. Kate's check, worth $30,000, eventually came.
In the boardroom, Donald told them that both teams raised a grand total of nearly $600,000 with a difference of just $2,500 between the teams. He offered the team leaders to choose whether to split the money between both their charities regardless of who won, or keep the total amout and risk losing it all if they lose. They opted to split the money.
Ian's team raised $292,547, while Geraldo's team brought in $294,780 which meant the journalist's team won the challenge. Donald rounded out the money to $300,000 for each charity.
Ian said no one let him down, but eventually kept Terrell and Johnny who brought in small amounts in the boardroom with him. Donald then fired Terrell for raising the least amount of money, but told the football player, "You know how much I like you. And I gained great, great respect for you, and you've really done a good job. You've helped yourself immeasurably."
Terrell took the firing in stride, saying before leaving, "I didn't lose, bro. I learned in this situation."
