The winner of 'American Idol' season 11 has popped the question to his longtime girlfriend Hannah Blackwell and proudly announces it on Twitter.

Phillip Phillips is taking his relationship with Hannah Blackwell to the next level. The winner of "American Idol" season 11 who just released his second album "Behind the Light" earlier this year has proposed to his longtime girlfriend. The newly-engaged couple announced the news online.
"My best Christmas surprise is happening. We're engaged yall! @HannahBlackwell!" Phillips captioned their picture on Twitter. His bride-to-be proudly showed off her new engagement ring on Instagram, "I've been dreaming of this for over 20 years. I've been dreaming of this guy for just that long. Overwhelmed with happiness."

Phillips, 24, and Blackwell first met when they volunteered at a shelter for women and children. They already dated when he auditioned for "Idol". During the competition, he struggled with kidney stones and was rushed to hospital at one point. He made it to the finale and became a winner.
