As Stephen Colbert has kicked off his final week on Comedy Central, the network begins promoting "The Colbert Report" replacement "The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore". In the first promo for the new series, host Larry Wilmore is seen pitching his new show to diners at an eatery.
Promising something different and extra "nightly-ness" to late night, he says it's "gonna be hilarious." "It's about giving a voice to the underrepresented, to the underdog," he adds. "We finally get to talk about the real issues and we get to do it every night."
"The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore" will premiere Friday, January 19 at 11:30 P.M. on Comedy Central, a day after Colbert bids farewell to his audience on "The Colbert Report".
Back in November, Wilmore who is the Senior Black Correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" said his show would examine issues from the point of view of the underdog. "It was never intended to be a show only about minorities," he told New York Times. "It's a show about underdogs, and that happens in a lot of different forms, whether it's race, gender, or whatever."
