John Lee Hancock reportedly is eyed to direct "The Founder", a new movie about the rise of McDonald's to become a global fast food chain. According to THR, Hancock is in negotiations to serve behind the lens for the movie produced by FilmNation and Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield's The Combine.
"The Founder" will focus on Ray Kroc, a salesman from Illinois who saw business potentials from McDonalds brothers after meeting them in the 1950s. It will also see how the business turned into successful brand. Robert Siegel ("The Wrestler") pens the script.
Variety additionally reported that Hancock and Tom Hanks had previously passed on the project. Michael Keaton apparently is interested in the role of Kroc, but he will decide after the director is announced.
Hancock most recently directed "Saving Mr. Banks". He is also known for his works such as "The Blind Side" starring Sandra Bullock and "The Rookie" with Dennis Quaid.
