Will Ferrell is getting Shakespearean in a new untitled comedy film, Variety learns. The "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" funnyman is expected to play the lead character who is navigating the intense, competitive world inside a Shakespearean theater company.

The untitled Shakespearean comedy based on an original story developed internally at Mosaic has been picked up by Sony. David Guion and Michael Handelman ("Dinner for Schmucks", "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb") are enlisted to write the screenplay for the upcoming feature film.

After voicing the villainous Lord Business in "The Lego Movie" this year, Ferrell will next be seen in "Get Hard" with Kevin Hart. He is also attached to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in "Daddy's Home" and share screen with John C. Reilly in "Border Guards".
