Bruce Springsteen helps raise some funds for veterans by auctioning his two guitars at $300,000 apiece during an appearance at "Stand Up for Heroes" on Wednesday night, November 5. The singer, who also offered chances to learn to play guitar with him for an hour, having lasagna dinner together at his home and having a ride on his motorcycle, managed to collect more than a half of the money raised that night, The Associated Press reports.

Apart from the auction, the "Streets of Philadelphia" singer also performed for the audience. He performed "Growin' Up", ''Dancing in the Dark" and "Born in the U.S.A" among others during his set in front of military leaders, service men and others.

Springsteen has been making appearance at the annual show, put together by New York Comedy Festival and the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which is held to provide support for veterans and their family. The Wednesday event which took place at the Theater at Madison Square Garden also featured performances by comedian John Oliver, Jon Stewart, Louis C.K. and Jim Gaffigan.

Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, also showed off his singing skills by performing "New York, New York" at the event which raised more than $1 million that night.
