The rapper's mom tells Billboard that he's new to the business and doesn't know that there's 'a chain of command that he has to go through before he gets his payment.'

Earlier this week, Bobby Shmurda made headlines when he took to Instagram to complain about not getting paid for his performances. His mom and manager, Leslie Pollard, has now explained her son's rant in a new interview with Billboard.

"It's not that he's not getting paid, it's that he's new to the business," Pollard, who has been managing Shmurda for nearly two months, said. "There's a chain of command that he has to go through before he gets his payment. I guess he's thinking all the money should go from the front man to his hands - it doesn't work like that."

"Of course they hold onto it so he actually does the show. Then it goes to his business manager, then to the touring accountant, and then to him," she added.

Back on Tuesday, October 14, Shmurda said on Instagram, "Nah idgaf I'm doing all theses show not getting ma money dey got me doing s**t every f**king day so its hard to keep up Witt dis s**t den I ain't got nobody to trust aint no help in dis b**ch I'm ready to go back to da trap be4 jail #RNS dats how I feel foh."

The post came along with a video of him giving further explanation about the situation. "If you got a contract with Bobby Shmurda and you don't have my signature on that paper, sue the s**t outta them. I don't give a f**k, sue them n***as. I ain't getting no money for it. I ain't doing no more shows," he said. The post has been deleted but someone saved the clip and uploaded it to YouTube.

Shmurda took over the summer with his breakout hit "Hot N***a" that broke into the top 10 of Billboard 100 earlier this week. The track will appear on the 20-year-old star's debut EP, "Shmurda She Wrote", which is slated for release on November 10.
