Lego may soon enter the reality TV world following its successful foray into Hollywood films. Lego vice-president of global licensing and distribution Jill Wilfert revealed that the Danish company planned a reality competition show.
According to The Guardian, Wilfert said at the Mipcom TV conference in Cannes, France on Tuesday, October 14 that the company's "exploring some reality competition show formats, which is new for us: the idea of becoming a master builder is something we think could be quite resonating." This could mean that viewers will see a show about people creating things with Lego pieces.
The planned reality show will be one of more works in showbiz based around the toy line that are coming out in the next few years. Wilfert said, "You will continue to see us in this entertainment and content space. We are working on a new property that will launch with a TV series in 2015, and we are focusing on having real interactivity."
Recently, there was a report saying that the Batman character voiced by Will Arnett in "The Lego Movie" would be getting a spin-off. There's still no confirmation of the news, but Wilfert hinted that fans could expect more Lego movies. "The audience has responded, they love our content," she said. "There is a lot of speculation about future Lego movies. I'm pretty confident that we'll be seeing additional Lego movies in the future."
