A new Fiona Apple song will be featured in the main title sequence for the new series "The Affair". Titled "Container", the creepy track was produced by the Grammy Award-winning singer's frequent collaborator and tourmate Blake Mills.
The dark track features gloomy lyrics like, "My voice it made an avalanche and buried a man I never knew/ and when he died his widowed bride met his daddy and they made you/ I have only one thing to do and that's to be the wave that I am and then sink back into the ocean."
Sarah Treem, the executive producer of "The Affair", has issued a statement in which she expressed her excitement to have Apple's song on the show.
"Fiona Apple has been my favorite songwriter since I was sixteen," she wrote. "I am honored and humbled that she has chosen to lend her talent to our opening title sequence. If our show can approach one tenth of the depth and complexity of her song, I'll be very happy."
"The Affair" stars Dominic West, Ruth Wilson, Joshua Jackson and Maura Tierney. The show, which "explores the emotional and psychological effects of an extramarital affair, and will be told separately from the male and female perspectives," premieres on October 12 on Showtime.
