The actor will reprise his 'Captain America: The First Avenger' role as Tony Stark's father, Howard Stark.

AceShowbiz - Another "Captain America: The First Avenger" star is joining Hayley Atwell on "Marvel's Agent Carter". Marvel announced on Tuesday, September 30 that Dominic Cooper would reprise his role as young Howard Stark on the upcoming ABC series.

After starring as the father of Tony Stark in the first "Captain America" film, Cooper made a cameo appearance in "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter". The actor said back in January that he would like to reprise the role on "Agent Carter" if there's a possible way to include his character.

"I would like to do any way possible that Howard Stark can make a return. He's such a fun character to play, and I really believe that he could make quite an exciting character to watch more of," he said. "The flawed entrepreneur, the kind of crazy playboy, from that era is an exciting concept. I saw Hayley recently, and I think that the 'Carter' thing is possibly going to happen, so yeah. I'd love to. I wouldn't hesitate."

"Agent Carter" centers on Atwell's Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life-Steve Rogers.

Chad Michael Murray ("A Cinderella Story", "One Tree Hill") and Enver Gjokaj ("Dollhouse") were recently added to the cast as series regulars. The former will play SSR Agent Jack Thompson, and the latter will star as SSR Agent Daniel Sousa. James D'Arcy will portray Edwin Jarvis, and Shea Whigham is cast as SSR Chief Roger Dooley.

The new series is set for a 2015 premiere.
