Nate Berkus and his husband Jeremiah Brent are going to be parents. The pair, who got married earlier this year, announced in a statement posted on Berkus' Facebook page on Wednesday, September 24 that they would welcome their first child via a surrogate in the spring.
"Wanted to share some exciting news... 'We have had the most special year and its JUST become even more beautiful. We are happy to announce that we are expecting our first child! While we can't share much, we can say that thanks to a surrogate and the support of those we love we will officially be a family in the spring of 2015!' " read the post.
The "American Dream Builders" host and Brent, who is a former assistant of Rachel Zoe, got engaged at Machu Picchu in Peru last year and tied the knot at the New York Public Library in May. Oprah Winfrey, Rachael Ray and Busy Philipps were among guests at their nuptials.
Prior to the wedding, Brent talked about having many children with Berkus. "One thing at a time, but Nate will be the best dad. I want like a soccer team. Unfortunately, it's not as easy for us like conventional couples as you can imagine. We both want kids. I would have five if I could, but we will probably have two," he said on the set of E!'s "The Fabulist".
