Nicole Kidman and her family laid her father Dr. Anthony Kidman to rest on Friday, September 19 at St Francis Xavier Church in Sydney, Australia. In addition to Dr. Anthony Kidman's wife Janelle, the funeral was attended by the Oscar-winning actress, her husband Keith Urban and their two children, the actress' sister Antonia and other family members. Russell Crowe and his estranged wife Danielle Spencer were also present to pay respects.
"I am one of the lucky ones," Kidman said as reported by AAP. "I'm a girl, a woman that was raised by an extraordinary man, a good man, a compassionate man, a strong man. He was a man that was always there for me, a thinker, my confidant, my friend and my protector."
She also said that the late psychologist was there to support her during her separation from Tom Cruise. "He was the father that was on a plane, hours after I got divorced, to come and take care of me, staying with me for weeks for as long as I needed. He was also the father who would, when I was crying, always tell me, 'Nicki, it's going to be OK,' " she recalled.
As reported by Sydney Morning Herald, Dr. Kidman's grandchildren Sybella and Sunday also remembered their beloved grandfather. "We will miss you. You were so kind, you were so cute, you took us to the zoo, you took us to your work, and we love you, we know you're in heaven," they said.
Dr. Kidman unexpectedly passed away when he was visiting Antonia and her family in Singapore. Following the sad news, Urban canceled his scheduled appearance to be with his wife.
