Aubrey Plaza is Grumpy Cat in Lifetime's upcoming live-action TV movie. The lead star of "The To Do List" has signed up to voice the titular character in holiday movie "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever".
Previously, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Jane Lynch was set to lend her voice to the Internet-famous feline, but she suddenly changed her mind and turned down the role after winning an Emmy Award for outstanding reality host for "Hollywood Game Night" in August. It's unclear why the "Glee" star backed away from the project.
Written by Tim Hill ("SpongeBob SquarePants") and Jeff Morris, the movie will tell the story of a pet-store cat that is perpetually overlooked until a 12-year-old girl named Chrystal realizes she can talk to the feline. On Christmas Eve, Chrystal rescues her after the mall closes.
Lifetime plans to air it on Saturday, November 29 at 8 P.M. ET/PT.
Plaza is currently starring as April Ludgate on NBC's Emmy-nominated comedy "Parks and Recreation". She recently graced the big screen with "Life After Beth" where she portrays the titular character.
