Hall will don huge wig and wear miniskirt to portray the central character in Michael Mayer's Tony-winning musical.

AceShowbiz - From a serial killer, Michael C. Hall will transform into a German transgender singer. The actor has landed himself on Broadway's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", taking over the lead role from Andrew Rannells whose run ends on October 12.

Hall's turn would begin October 16 and end January 4 at the Belasco Theatre, producers of the Tony Award-winning musical revival announced Monday, September 8. He will star opposite Tony-winner Lena Hall who plays Yitzhak, Hedwig's husband.

Directed by Michael Mayer, "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" centers on Hedwig's search for love and completeness in America. Neil Patrick Harris once stepped into the role and ended his run on August 17. He won a Tony for Best Lead Actor in a Musical.

This is not the first time Hall tackles a stage musical. The "Dexter" star was the emcee in "Cabaret" in 1999 and Billy Flynn in "Chicago" in 2002. He made his Broadway debut in 1996 as an understudy in "Skylight" and played a suburban husband in drama "The Realistic Joneses".
