The first look at "Veronica Mars" spin-off "Play It Again, Dick" that will air on CW Seed has made its way out online. The brief video highlights Ryan Hansen who pitches his ideas for his own show.
"I'll tell you the basic ingredients for the show: motorcycle, catchphrases, signature cocktail, barely dressed hot chicks, me nailing hot chicks," he says, trying to convince Kristen Bell who thinks a show about Dick Casablancas, P.I. is "a tough sell." He adds, "Pretty awesome, right?"
The web series focuses on Hansen who seeks to capitalize off the heat from the recent Kickstarter movie by pitching a spin-off for his "beloved" character, Dick Casablancas. Series creator Rob Thomes described the upcoming show as having "more in common with 'Party Down' tonally."
It is set to premiere September 16 on The CW's digital programming site. In addition to Bell, original cast members such as Jason Dohring, Enrico Colatoni, Percy Daggs III, Ken Marino and Chris Lowell will return to the spin-off series. Robert Buckley and Rose McIver are added to the cast as flamboyant choreographer Gaston and as a character described as "Skank With Attitude" and "Horny Mourner" respectively.
