AceShowbiz - "CHiPS" movie has found its lead actors. Dax Shepard is set to play officer Jon Baker originally played by Larry Wilcox, and Michael Pena is attached to portray his sidekick officer Frank "Ponch" Poncherello made famous by Erik Estrada.
The original story follows the lives of two motorcycle police officers of the California Highway Patrol. One always follows the rules, while the other is more on the wild side. The series' creator Rick Rosner is involved in the production as an executive producer.
According to Deadline, Shepard will also direct and write the long-delayed adaptation of NBC's classic series. The husband of Kristen Bell is expected to perform his own stunt since he is actually a professional driver of race cars and motorcycles in real life.
