Whether Michael Bay will be back to direct "Transformers 5" remains to be seen, but the director will continue to make movie about cool cars. Variety learns that his latest project, Warner Bros.' futuristic vehicle pic "Cosmic Motors", has just gotten Kyle Ward to write the screenplay.

The movie is based on a book by Daniel Simon, the vehicle designer in "Tron: Uprising" and "Captain America: The First Avenger". The story will take place at a far away galaxy called Galaxion where futuristic concepts ranging from spaceships, pods, race cars, giant trains, warships, and balloons exist in everyday life.

Bay recently helmed "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and produced "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" as well as "The Purge: Anarchy". Meanwhile, Ward's credits include "Machete Kills" and "Hitman: Agent 47". He also writes the upcoming "Underworld: Next Generation" and "Arabian Knights".

Simon is an established senior car designer who has spent the last several years focusing his talents on futuristic concepts for such automakers as Bugatti and Lamborghini. Besides designing the vehicles in "Tron" and "Winter Soldier", he worked as a concept illustrator in "Oblivion".
