Heather Graham makes opportunities for herself by quitting Neil LaBute's dark comedy play "The Money Shot" to direct her own movie. The 44-year-old actress has chosen to focus on "Half Magic", which she also writes and stars in.

In "The Money Shot", Graham was due to play one half of a once-glamorous pair of Hollywood stars who are desperate for a comeback. It was to be her first New York stage appearance since 2003. LaBute wrote the play while Terry Kinney directs it with Gia Crovatin, Callie Thorne and Frederick Weller in the cast list.

The play is to have a pre-show on September 4 at the Lucille Lortel Theater in Greenwich Village before officially opening on September 22 for a limited engagement through October 12. According to Deadline, Graham's exit was three days after she attended a press meet-and-greet for the play at their rehearsal studio.

Meanwhile, "Half Magic" is about "a woman who wants a nice guy and great sex, preferably in the same package". Graham is to star in the movie opposite Josh Lucas. Deadline said the movie project was shaping up together at last, forcing her to quit her commitment to "The Money Shot".
