While promoting his new film "Gone Girl", Neil Patrick Harris let it slip that he was secretly begging for an "American Horror Story: Freak Show" cameo. The Emmy Awards-winning actor has gotten a positive response from the show's creator Ryan Murphy.

Harris mentioned during an appearance on EW Radio that he asked Murphy in a letter whether he could take part in the new season of the FX show. "I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn't even available to be in it," he admitted, adding "He hasn't responded. ... I just love those series. 'Coven' was fantastic. To do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch, can't wait."

Without his knowledge, Murphy quickly responded to his request on Friday, July 18 via Twitter. "@ActuallyNPH of course you can be on Freak Show! I have a role I think you'd love," Murphy tweeted. Harris has not responded back but his fans already expressed excitement over the possibility.

The new season "American Horror Story: Freak Show" kicks off in fall.
