David Beckham and his sons looked unrecognizable because of the slime at the 2014 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports Awards on Thursday, July 17. The former soccer star was honored with the Legend Award at the awards show which took place at the UCLA Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.
Wearing a simple dark top and pants, Beckham received the prize from his sons Romeo and Cruz. He was all-smiles as he held the trophy with the boys on his sides when the slime was sprayed at them.
In his acceptance speech, the soccer star who previously played for Manchester United and Real Madrid told his young fans to keep believing in themselves. "When I was young, my dream was to be a professional soccer player. If you have dreams and you believe in yourself, your dreams can come true. Thank you very much," he said onstage.
In addition to Beckham, surfer and shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton received an award. Hamilton, who continues surfing after losing her left arm in a shark attack in 2003, was awarded with Favorite Comeback Athlete. The excited surfer shared some photos and a video from the event which was hosted by former NFL star Michael Strahan. "THANK YOU to everyone who voted for me as 'Favorite Comeback athlete' In tonight's #kidschoicesports awards! Sooo stoked!" she wrote.
