The thriller starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike will kick off the annual event in New York on September 26.

AceShowbiz - "Gone Girl" is coming to the upcoming 52nd annual New York Film Festival. Directed by David Fincher, the adaptation of Gillian Flynn's best-selling novel is confirmed to open the event which is scheduled to run from September 26 to October 12 this year.
"Captain Phillips" and "Life of Pi" opened the NYFF in the past years. Fincher also premiered his film "The Social Network" at the event in 2010. Other critically-acclaimed flicks like "Her" and "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" premiered there as well last year.
"Gone Girl" stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, and Tyler Perry among others. Due October 3 in U.S. theaters, the mystery thriller follows a man who is looking for his wife but is soon fighting for his innocence when all roads point to him as the killer.
