Robert Downey Jr. goes to court in the first trailer for family crime drama "The Judge". He plays a successful lawyer who returns to his hometown for his mother's funeral only to discover that his estranged father, the town's judge, is suspected of a murder. He sets out to discover the truth and along the way reconnects with the family he walked away from years before.
Robert Duvall is tapped to play the estranged father. Jack Nicholson was initially courted to take on the role, but the notoriously picky actor eventually turned it down. David Dobkin directs the film and co-produces it with Downey Jr.'s wife Susan Downey.
Other cast members include Vera Farmiga, Vincent D'Onofrio, Dax Shepard, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Lancaster, Billy Bob Thornton, and Leighton Meester. The movie is scheduled to make its way out across the U.S. starting October 10.
