That 24-hour music video for "Happy" is still not enough. On Tuesday, May 13, Pharrell Williams continued his mission to spread happiness worldwide by dropping a Japanese version of his wildly popular hit single.
Directed by pal and frequent collaborator Nigo, the new clip still involves a lot of dance moves. However, this time Skateboard P is joined by a bunch of Japan's famous faces including hip-hop group Teriyaki Boyz, singer Toshinobu Kubota and some members of boyband EXILE.
"Happy" was featured in the soundtrack of "Despicable Me 2" and was nominated for the Best Original Song at the Oscars. The track has so far spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard 100.
The summery song also serves as the lead cut off Pharrell's latest solo album, "G I R L". The Grammy Award-winning musician, who wrote and produced the songs in the LP, recently opened up about how he felt about working on his own music.
"I used to always overthink it because I'm trying to produce myself," the star, who has previously worked with a number of big names for their music, told Notion magazine. "I'm having to draw from myself, which is so weird, so I'd always overshoot."
