Rumor that the studio is looking for replacements continue to run wild as no official word is released to address it.
The rumor came on heels of controversies surrounding the casting. Miles Teller is expected to star as the elastic Reed Richards, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm or Human Torch, and Kate Mara as Johnny's sister Sue Storm or Invincible Woman. Jamie Bell rounds up the lineup as Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing.
Several movie reporters quickly cited their sources denying the rumor, but Fox hasn't officially responded to requests for comment. Despite the conflicting reports, Bleeding Cool insists, "We remain confident in our source. Bleeding Cool suggests that if Fox really would like to stomp on the rumour, they stop approaching folk to replace the director."
Josh Trank, who previously helmed groundbreaking found-footage superhero film "Chronicle", is tapped to serve as a director. Although the casting has pretty much been confirmed on Twitter and a couple of interviews by the actors themselves, there hasn't been any official word from Fox. The news suggested they were still in final stage of negotiations.
Regarding the backlash, two of the actors have offered their responses. Jordan once said he was not worried and not surprised by the mixed reactions because he realized some people just didn't like changes. "You kinda know going into it that people are used to seeing something one way, it's a continuity thing more than anything. People don't like change too much," he explained.
In a separate interview, Teller explained why the project got him interested, "I think a lot of times it just looks like Hollywood actors in Halloween costumes, you know? And I think what we're going to do with Fantastic Four is going to be very grounded and it made sense to me. When I read the script, I didn't feel like I was reading this larger-than-life, incredible supehero tale."
The film is scheduled to be released on June 19, 2015, and is expected to start filming sometime soon this year. Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne, Toby Kebbell, and Domhnall Gleeson are reportedly circling the role of villainous Doctor Doom.
