Seth Rogen is tackling a true-story flick for his next project. The "Neighbors" actor is set to write and direct "Console Wars", a movie that chronicles then-small gaming company Sega challenging much-bigger firm Nintendo in the 1990s.

The film is based on a book of the same name due May this year. Movie rights to the book is bought by Sony Pictures. Scott Rudin ("Moneyball", "The Social Network") serves as a producer, and the book's author Blake Harris serves as an executive producer.

Rogen will work in tandem with his frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg ("Knocked Up", "Superbad"). On top of that, the two, along with Rudin, will produce a documentary on the same subject which is co-directed by Harris.

In 1990, Nintendo had a virtual monopoly on the video game industry. Sega, on the other hand, was just a faltering arcade company with big aspirations and even bigger personalities. Based on hundreds of interviews with former Sega and Nintendo employees, "Console Wars" tells the story of a team of underdogs slaying a giant and, as a result, birthing a $60 billion dollar industry.
