David Schwimmer is plotting his TV return with an ABC pilot. The Ross Geller of NBC's "Friends" is set to take one of the lead roles in comedy "Irreversible", which is based on the hit Israeli series "Bilti Hafich".

The new comedy centers on an eccentric, self-absorbed couple and the trials and tribulations they often bring upon themselves. Schwimmer will play the male lead, a pessimistic writer named Andy.

The 47-year-old actor/director will also executive produce the show. Segahl Avin, who created the original version, will write the script and potentially direct the pilot. He will also serve as executive producer along with Peter Tolan.

Should ABC pick "Irreversible" to series, it will mark Schwimmer's first regular TV role since "Friends" wrapped up in 2004. He, however, has appeared as guest star on Lisa Kudrow's "Web Therapy".
