Damon Wayans Jr. has extended his stay on "New Girl". The actor was initially tapped to recur in four episodes of the hit comedy series, but now has inked a deal to appear as a special guest star for the rest of the season.

Wayans Jr. was cast as Coach in "New Girl" pilot but could not continue on the show when his sitcom "Happy Endings" scored an unlikely renewal from ABC. After "Happy Endings" was canceled in May, Wayans Jr. booked a trip back to the FOX series, reprising his role as the gruff roommate of Schmidt and Nick.

He first re-appeared on "New Girl" in episode 5 of season 3 titled "Coach" which aired on November 5. His arrival apparently helped boost the show's ratings, with the latest episode showing a 11|percent| increase from last original episode airing on October 22.
