Katy Perry talked about her condition following her divorce from Russell Brand in a new interview with U.K.'s The Sunday Times. In the interview, the "Walking on Air" singer revealed that she "was in bed for about two weeks" following the 2011 split. "I was pretty f**ked, yes. It hurt a lot - I got a good knock," she added.

The 28-year-old songtress told the newspaper that her failed relationship inspired her latest work, "Prism". She explained, "What I wanted to call this record at first was 'Adult Reality', because 'Teenage Dream' was so high on that cotton-candy cloud, and then it's like I got punched in the face and kicked down the stairs a couple of times. I had to face the reality that things are not always on cloud nine."

She "was down and out" and her confidence "had been shattered" when she wrote "By the Grace of God". "The song is very autobiographical," she said of the track. "Unfortunately, although I had a lot of outward self-identity, I didn't have the inner kind, I hadn't built that up. My self-worth was in someone else's hands, which is never a good idea, because it can be taken from you at any time. And it was, and it was shattered," Katy explained.
