Dr. Drew Pinsky Reveals He's a Prostate Cancer Survivor
Celebrity

The 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' host speaks up on his own life-changing cancer diagnosis, surgery and now recovery.

As an addiction specialist and well-known radio and TV personality, Dr. Drew Pinsky has encouraged many patients to open up to him regarding their medical problems. So it came as a surprise when the HLN talk show host was in fact not so open with his own health condition, not until now when he has finally revealed to have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, undergone surgery last July and is now in recovery.

Perhaps the doctor realized that by disclosing his recent battle with prostate cancer, he will be able to influence other men to get tested early. This was not the case last July when he had his prostate removed and told only a few close friends and colleagues, returning to work shortly after 10 days.

Without the surgery, Dr. Drew "would've died of prostate cancer, for sure," he himself said about how scary and critical the surgery was to his survival. Thanks to the prodding of his wife Susan, Dr. Drew was diagnosed two years ago, after which he underwent a series of biopsies that turned up a "low-grade and localized" tumor at first that had eventually spread to his whole prostate gland.

Now after his ordeal, the "Loveline" host reveals he is cancer-free. "The only remnant of cancer surgery is six small scars on my torso. They are fading fast. I'm hopeful I am cured," he stated.
