The mother of Simon Cowell's girlfriend Lauren Silverman has opened up about her excitement to welcome the couple's first child. Speaking to E! News, Lauren's mother Carole Salande said that her daughter was expecting a baby boy and Carole was "very happy" about the idea of having another grandson.

"We're all excited and we're all doing well," she said. Carole, who lives in Florida, flew to New York to see her pregnant daughter and celebrate Jewish New Year. "I'm just happy to be up here spending time with everyone," Carole added. "I'm so happy things have calmed down," Carole continued saying, referring to media frenzy concerning her daughter pregnancy news.

During appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" earlier this week, Simon also said similar thing. "Because everyone knows, it was well documented, it was kind of uncomfortable. You know, the situation. But these things happen and everything is kind of calm now and I'm happy. I'm actually happier than I've ever been," the judge of "The X Factor (US)" said.

He added, "I can't blame the media because they've got a juicy story, but there was a lot of stuff said about her, that she trapped me and that she's a gold digger. Absolute nonsense. She's a great girl, but it was awkward because of the circumstances."

In other news, the soon-to-be father was teased by a friend, who asked how Simon would cope if he had a daughter and she dressed in Miley Cyrus' style. "I'm excited more than nervous. Although someone was asking me about all these scenarios," he said, as quoted by U.K.'s Daily Mirror.

"What I'd do if she or he did certain things, like if it was a girl and she dressed to go out like Miley did at the [MTV Video Music Awards], what I would say ... I haven't a clue! I mean honestly, I'm not thinking that far ahead with it. But I'm really looking forward to it," he concluded.
