The newly-released sneak peek also teases the guest appearances of Bill Hader, Chloe Sevigny and Ellie Kemper.

AceShowbiz - Getting closer to the end of summer, FOX is going full throttle to promote its fall programs, including "The Mindy Project". The comedy series will return with a number of A-list guest stars in season 2 and has shared glimpses of their scenes in a new promo video. The snippet also gives a look at Mindy's (Mindy Kaling) new short haircut and what seems to be a surprise proposal by Mindy's minister boyfriend, Casey (Anders Holm).

James Franco, Bill Hader and Chloe Sevigny will stop by the show, while Ellie Kemper is set to return, this time becoming a love interest for Ike Barinholtz's Morgan. Franco will appear in the first two episodes as Dr. Leotard, a charismatic and popular doctor who replaces Mindy while she is in Haiti on a volunteer mission with her pastor boyfriend.

During a press conference earlier this month, Kaling called Franco's character her nemesis. Co-star/writer Barinholtz described Dr. Leotard as the "anti-Mindy" and said the guy was "everything that Mindy is not."

Meanwhile, a set decoration revealed that there would be an impromptu wedding. "In the premiere, Mindy and Casey come back, and we want to explain how that happens. ... There is a wedding -- we have a wedding in this apartment, a quick wedding, an impromptu wedding," Kaling said, without revealing who would get married.

"Because it's an impromptu wedding, they get a cake -- they only have, at the exotic cake store, a cake that looks like a penis or a cake that looks like a Torah. Mindy is like, we'll take the penis cake. It's one of the more offensive scenes we've ever shot."

Regardless of the likely proposal and the wedding decoration, Kaling said, "Mindy gets to be single again pretty soon." She, however, will romance another hunk as "Justified" lead Timothy Olyphant has been reportedly cast as her new love interest.

"The Mindy Project" season 2 premieres Tuesday, September 17 at 9.30/8.30c on FOX.
