Jim Carrey Rumored Having Villain Role in 'Amazing Spider-Man 2'
Movie

The rumor is sparked by an Instagram photo featuring the 'Bruce Almighty' actor paying a visit to the filming set last March.

Will there be an unannounced appearance of a high-profile star in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"? At least this is what people hope after an Instagram photo that was uploaded by a fan visiting the filming location back in March sees him standing next to a famous comedian who is also known as a passionate advocate of gun-control.

"It's Jim Carrey! #sorrynotsorry he came to the spiderman set today! I wonder what he's doing there!!!" the fan captioned the said picture. Carrey might only have dropped by for awhile, but for some Spidey fans, it could be a hint at his potential involvement in the second installment in the "Amazing Spider-Man" film series.

As pointed out by Seven Web Heads (via Comic Book), the scenes shot in March took place at Ravencroft Institute, a mental institution which is home to many of the webslinger's enemies.

The site predicted that the "Yes Man" actor would play Kletus Kassady, who was once an inmate there. Other villainous characters linked to the Canadian star include Mysterio and J.J. Jameson. However, as always, nothing is sure until there is official word.

Due out May 2014, the sequel still stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti will be introduced as Electro and Rhino, the ones who turn the world of Garfield's titular hero upside down.
