AceShowbiz - Neil Burger finally screened first footage from his hotly-anticipated adaptation of Veronica Roth's book, "Divergent", at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 18. About 7000 attendees became the first to witness the exclusive peek at the fantasy movie that wrapped up its production two days ago and is set to open on March 21, 2014 in North America.

The clip features leading lady Shailene Woodley in her role of Tris. The character is seen getting engaged in Dauntless' tough training, including train jumping, hand-to-hand fighting and knife throwing. Scenes between Tris and Dauntless leader Four, the heroine's love interest that is played by Theo James, are teased in the video as well.

Following the screening, some movie reviewers sang praises for "Divergent" on social media. Anne Thompson of IndieWire tweeted, "Neil Burger's Divergent looks strong: dystopian hunger games meets harry potter, with choosing ceremony. Brit Theo james is serious hunk."

Another critic that poured out complimentary words was Sara Vilkomerson of Entertainment Weekly. "Oh and OH BOY #Divergent looks ammmmmmaazing. Train jumping, knife throwing, first jumper, ferris wheel," she gushed.

Leads Woodley and James, along with Neil Burger and author Veronica Roth who revealed to the audience that the third book in the "Divergent" trilogy was in the works, were on hand for the promotional effort. Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Ansel Elgort and Mekhi Phifer were some of other supporting cast members that showed up at the pop culture convention.

In other news, "Divergent" is confirmed to hit IMAX screens worldwide on the same release date as in the U.S.

"With 'The Hunger Games' and 'Twilight' franchises, our Lionsgate and Summit partners have proven to be a powerful force in adapting novels for the global theatrical marketplace," says Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and senior executive vp of IMAX, in a statement.
