Movie

The Elise Shifrin of 'Cosmopolis' reportedly confirms her involvement in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' franchise, and is now rumored to be the replacement of Shailene Woodley.

Just yesterday fans heard that Shailene Woodley would no longer be committed to "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" or any other production related to the franchise, a new name now emerges as her possible replacement. ET Canada confirms via Twitter that "Cosmopolis" star Sarah Gadon "is joining The Amazing Spider-Man franchise."

Though the site does not give further details of what role Gadon agreed to take on, it leads to a speculation that she might be the one who's gonna take over the Mary Jane Watson role. MJ will be introduced in "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" following Marc Webb's decision to "streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship" for the second film.

Woodley, who only shot around three scenes, admitted to Entertainment Weekly that she felt "bummed" after dropped from "Amazing Spider-Man 2". Even so, she respected Webb's "need for holding off on introducing MJ until the next film."

"MJ only appeared in a few scenes and I wouldn't trade the experience of working with Andrew [Garfield] and Emma [Stone] for three days on set for the world," she said.

"Amazing Spider-Man 2" is headlined by Andrew Garfield, and will be widely released on May 2, 2014.
