AceShowbiz - Robin Roberts has to wait for at least five more months to return to her post on "Good Morning America". The co-host of the ABC morning program is doing well after having a bone marrow transplant for her myelodysplastic syndrome, but her immune system is still weak, according to multiple sources.
TMZ reports that "doctors are pleased with her progress and say she's right on schedule, but that schedule puts her on the bench for 5 or 6 months." "GMA" bosses allegedly also want her back as soon as February 2013, but her condition still doesn't allow that and pushing her condition to the edge will be too risky.
Luckily, Roberts is not alone at home. She recently reunited with her pet dog K.J. "Look who made it back for my 100 day celebration...KJ!! We just keep staring at each..can't believe she's finally home," she tweeted on Satursday, December 29 in a caption of a photo featuring her and the lovely pooch.
Roberts has been on a medical leave from "GMA" since August 30 to have a bone marrow transplant. The disease of the blood and bone marrow was a complication from her treatment for breast cancer. Despite still in recovery, she managed to attend "GMA" weatherman Sam Champion's wedding to partner Rubem Robierb on December 21.
