Germany's prestigious Bambi Awards 2012 put together a collection of local and international celebrities who were honored for their respective contributions in the media industry. The awards night which took place on Thursday, November 22 at the German city of Dusseldorf, saw appearances from the likes of Hollywood actress Salma Hayek, singer Celine Dion, and super boyband One Direction.

Seasoned actress, Hayek, got the jury's nod as the first Latino actress to make it onto Hollywood's A-list and was therefore given the award for international film category. The 46-year-old Mexican-American is best known for her role in the 2002 biographical film, "Frida", which also brought her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. She recently appeared in Oliver Stone's "Savages" and in "Here Comes the Boom".

Dion, who sported three sexy, figure-hugging outfits throughout the evening, went home with her gold fawn Bambi statuette trophy for entertainment, while boyband One Direction also flew to the German city to accept their award in the pop international category and perform their single "Live While Were Young" to the European audience.

Austrian stuntman Felix Baumgartner took home the Bambi for the "millennium" category. The skydiver and daredevil set a new record for a live event on YouTube for his skydive at the edge of space, which got him over 8 million views and was sighted as the impetus of the award.

German-Ukranian actress Alina Levshin nabbed the best actress trophy for her role in the film "Kriegerin (Combat Girls)", while German actor Ulrich Turkur got a nod for best actor for his role in the film "Rommel".

The Bambi lifetime achievement award went to eighty-five-year-old German entertainer Joachim Fuchsberger.
