MTV Moves Up Its Movie Awards Show to April in 2013

It is confirmed that the 2013 Movie Awards will be held on April 14 next year, which is much sooner than the traditional mid year schedule for the film kudofest.

AceShowbiz - MTV will throw its annual Movie Awards show sooner than its usual schedule for next year. The company confirms that it has moved up the 2013 Movie Awards to early summer despite the fact that the prize-giving event usually takes place around June or July.

The channel officially announces that next year's Movie Awards will broadcast live on Sunday, April 14. It says that the decision to air the show in April is taken to ensure "the blockbusters and gut-busting comedies of 2012 won't be forgotten."

Furthermore, MTV states that 2012 marks "a banner year for Hollywood" due to the release of such actioners as "The Avengers", "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Prometheus", as well as such comedies as "Ted" and "Magic Mike". It also won't miss upcoming "Cloud Atlas", "Skyfall" and "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" which all can compete for next year's Movie Awards.

For the past few years, the film kudofest has always taken place in mid year and often serves as an event to promote various upcoming big releases. This year, MTV Movie awards was held on June 3 with Russell Brand serving as the host. Footage from "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" were shown as a way to hype up the star-studded event.
