The drama show produced by the 'Transformers' helmer follows the crew of a naval destroyer who are forced to confront the reality of their existence in a world where they're among the only survivors.

TNT has given a greenlight to "The Last Ship" from Michael Bay by giving it a pilot order. The apocalyptic project will be executive produced by the "Armageddon" helmer along with Steven Kane ("The Closer") and Hank Steinberg ("Without a Trace").
Based on William Brinkley's 1988 popular novel of the same title, the show is set at the time when a global catastrophe nearly obliterates the earth's population and forces the crew of a naval destroyer to confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they are among the only survivors.
"The book 'The Last Ship' is a gripping page-turner that has all the makings of a terrific television drama, including a great premise, memorable characters, intense situations and heart-racing action," says Michael Wright, president and head of programming for TNT. "We believe this show will take viewers on a thrilling ride and fits perfectly with TNT's expanding line-up of original dramas."
Beside this "The Last Ship" adaptation, Bay and his company Platinum Dunes have got a straight-to-series order from Starz for "Treasure Island" prequel titled "Black Sails". The 47-year-old filmmaker is currently attached to direct "Transformers 4", which will serve as a follow-up to 2011's movie "Transformers: Dark of the Moon".
