The Ethan Hunt of 'Mission: Impossible' movie series is 'deeply saddened' by Katie's divorce filing and asks for privacy to 'work this out.'

AceShowbiz - Tom Cruise has reacted to Katie Holmes's divorce filing. The "Mission: Impossible" actor felt blindsided by his estranged wife's decision, saying he "did not see it coming."
His representative said as quoted by TMZ, "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out."
Katie filed the divorce papers anonymously on Thursday, June 28 in New York where "files are sealed," instead of in Los Angeles where the papers could be accessed by public. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest," her lawyer said.
The actress cited "irreconcilable differences," and asked for sole custody as well as "primary residential custody" of their 6-year-old daughter Suri. The mother of one also asked for a "suitable amount" of child support, and a division of property.
The couple, who has been married for more than five years, reportedly has a prenup, but Katie doesn't mention it in her filing. They have homes in Los Angeles and New York and hundreds of acres property in Telluride, Colo. According to Forbes, Cruise pocketed a whooping $75 million in 2011 alone, while Katie only earned $5 million.
The divorce announcement came just days before Cruise's 50th birthday on July 3. Just a few days ago, the actor revealed his plan to celebrate it in Iceland with his family while shooting his new movie "Oblivion".
"Despite our schedules, we're together all the time," he dished on. "We'll be in Iceland on the actual day. We like hiking, and so we'll have some nice hikes." He also revealed, "Maybe (we'll) go camping when Kate finishes her film."
Cruise and Katie got married in a lavish ceremony in an Italian castle in November 2006. The actor was spotted still wearing his wedding ring when working on his movie set a few days ago, and so did the 33-year-old actress when she was out and about with Suri. The couple, however, was not seen attending an event together for quite a while. She was absent from his "Rock of Ages" premiere.
Cruise was previously married to Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers.
