'She was a good friend, a talented actress and a very funny lady, both onscreen and off,' said a close friend of the 'Moesha' actress.

AceShowbiz - "Moesha" star Yvette Wilson has lost the battle against cancer. The comedian passed away Thursday, June 14 at the age of 48 after fighting stage 4 cervical cancer and kidney disease in the past few years. She had also had kidney transplants.

"Unfortunately I can verify Yvette's passing yesterday. She was a good friend, a talented actress and a very funny lady, both onscreen and off," close friend Jeffrey Pittle confirmed to E! News. "She will be sorely missed, but I'm sure her talent and humor will live on in her legion of fans. It's a small comfort knowing we can still experience Yvette through the work she left behind."

Fellow celebrities have also poured out their grief on Twitter. "Moesha" co-star Shar Jackson wrote, "I wanna thank all my tweeties for their prayers but god has chosen to take my sister Yvette home." Singer Lauryn Hill tweeted, "R.I.P Yvette Wilson (Andell From The Parkers). She recently lost her battle with cancer. Life is short, so cherish yours."

Wilson found her big break in 1993 when she was cast on ABC sitcom "Thea". She then scored a role on "Moesha" and its spin-off "The Parkers".
