The Jennifer Lawrence-starring movie becomes the first film to claim the champion title in four consecutive weekends since 'Avatar' in 2009.

AceShowbiz - "The Hunger Games" is so far unbeatable on North American box office. For four weeks in a row, the novel-adapted movie claims the top spot on the chart, making it the first movie to secure the first place in four consecutive weekends since James Cameron's "Avatar" in 2009.

This week, the Jennifer Lawrence-starring fiction movie collects $21 million, dropping a slim 32|percent| from the previous weekend. After 24 days playing in cinemas nationwide, the film takes in a total domestic cume of $337 million.

Slapstick comedy "The Three Stooges" lands on the runner-up spot on its debut weekend. Opening to $17 million, the reboot movie about dimwitted trio Moe, Larry and Curly appeals to mostly male audience which make up 59|percent| of the ticket buyers.

The classic comedy earns a "B-" CinemaScore overall. "The movie rocks with those that it was made fore," says 20th Century Fox executive vp distribution Chris Aronson. "There is a whole new generation of Stooges fans now."

Filling the third spot is another newcomer "The Cabin in the Woods", which grabs $14.7 million. Though receiving a "C" CinemaScore, the R-rated thriller starring Chris Hemsworth pleases Lionsgate Films with its result. "We're pleased with the outcome," says Richie Fay, Lionsgate president of distribution.
