The 'Sparks Fly' crooner makes the offer to Kevin McGuire as she expresses her regret for not being able to accompany the 18-year-old New Jersey high school student to his senior prom.

AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift has responded to a prom invitation from Kevin McGuire. In a message left on her Facebook wall on Friday, February 24, the "You Belong with Me" hitmaker apologized for not being able to accept his invite, but she came out with a better offer for her cancer-stricken fan.
The 22-year-old country crooner invited the New Jersey teen to go to the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, which will take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 1. "Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom," her Facebook message read. "But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up.. Would you be my date?"
Philadelphia's CBS 3 reported that upon reading Swift's post, the ecstatic McGuire said, "I don't know what else to say. I was just trying not to throw up." The 18-year-old, who is battling leukemia for the second time after being diagnosed with the disease for the first time at the age of 13, later added, "I have cancer. Cancer doesn't have me. Taylor, I would love to go with you."
The idea to invite Swift to McGuire's senior prom came from the teen's sister, Tori McGuire. Trying to lift the teen's spirit as he worries won't be able to get a date due to his loss of hair from his cancer treatment, Tori launched a "Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire to Prom!" Facebook page. It quickly gathered nearly 100,000 followers.
On the page, Tori wrote, "All throughout Kevin's treatment he kept his character intact, remained playing basketball, and even started varsity football as a freshman. Kevin is known throughout the community as the High school's 'real life SUPER MAN!' Tragically, Kevin had a relapse, and is now fighting cancer for the second time."
"Kevin is the kindest, most noble 18 year old a person could even fathom meeting," her note continued to read, "and throughout his ups and downs Kevin never even questioned 'why me?' Nothing, and I mean NOTHING brightens Kevin's day more than Taylor Swift. Kevin DESERVES more than anyone a special event in his life."
