Elton's husband David Furnish reveals that the 'In Time' actor has already been in talks to join the biopic, but still looks forward to finding a perfect chemistry with the director.

AceShowbiz - Elton John's wish to secure Justin Timberlake to star in "Rocketman" could eventually come true. E! News has broken the news that the "SexyBack" hitmaker is closer to sign on to the planned biopic project as he has already had some negotiations with the British musician.

Elton's husband David Furnish told E!'s Marc Malkin, "Elton and Justin have had conversations about it." He explained, "Justin also says he has to feel comfortable with the director and the director has to be comfortable with Justin. The chemistry is really important. There's no race to make this. We're just going to take the time to make it right."

When asked about what has put the production of the biopic on a hold, Furnish answered that it's because Elton is still looking for a right director to helm the gig. He said, "We're searching for a director. It's important we all share the same vision."

In January, Elton told Los Angeles Times that Justin was his "number one" choice to portray him in the biopic. "I've got a wish list of people. No. 1 on my list is Justin Timberlake, because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video of 'Rocket Man' and was superb," the 64-year-old singer confessed.

The "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" hitmaker revealed that he once eyed Baz Luhrman to direct the pic, but the filmmaker's busy schedule wouldn't allow him to join the project. "We tried to get Baz, but Baz is so busy. We can't announce it yet, but we have got someone on board that we're very excited about," so he said.

Back in September 2011, Elton announced that he would serve as the executive producer for "Rocketman". The biopic has been designed as a musical which features Elton's hits. The movie will reunite the singer with screenwriter Lee Hall since they last collaborated in 2000's "Billy Elliot", which stars Jamie Bell.
