The 15-year-old actress is in final talks to star in 'Can a Song Save Your Life?', playing Mark Rufallo's daughter.

AceShowbiz - Movie roles keep coming towards young Hollywood star Hailee Steinfeld, whose star meter rose after "True Grit". She is now going to test her vocal skill in a musical drama "Can a Song Save Your Life?" which also stars Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson among others.

Steinfeld is still in negotiations to star in the film, The Hollywood Reporter said, as Ruffalo's daughter. Written and directed by John Carney, the movie follows Johansson's character who moves to New York to pursue her dreams of a singing career but finds herself all alone when she's dumped by her boyfriend. A down-on-his-luck record producer (Ruffalo) finds her singing in a local bar and the two realize they may be each other's last chance to turn their lives around.

The "feel-good romance" is being sold at the European Film Market by Exclusive Media which is financing the movie. Anthony Bregman is attached to produce the film while Judd Apatow is on board as executive producer. Production is scheduled to start in June.

The casting news comes just a day after Bloody Disgusting revealed that Steinfeld has signed on to star in Lionsgate's "Dead of Winter". The thriller follows "Josephine (Steinfeld), a young girl who has recently lost her mother. She joins her family members who are thrown into conflict with each other, nature, and a crazed killer when they are isolated in their mountain home during a snowstorm."
