'Prometheus' Mask Design Hints at Space Jockey-Alike Alien

Some leaked photos from the production of the Ridley Scott film offer a look at the early work on head design for the alien that will appear in the highly anticipated sci-fi thriller.

AceShowbiz - How the alien will look like in Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" might be revealed in two leaked photos obtained by Cinemart. The pictures feature what is claimed to be the early work on a mask design for the extraterrestrial creature that will appear in the much awaited sci-fi thriller.

The head design, which is said to be made specifically for an actor to wear, has a very similar look to the Space Jockey in Scott's 1979 phenomenal film "Alien". An insider revealed that the alien creature that will appear in the upcoming movie "has been executed with very little CGI planned."

"Prometheus" was initally planned as a prequel to "Alien". However, the storyline evolved to a more stand-alone mythology. In an interview with Filmophilia back in December, Scott insisted that he will not relate his movie to the 1979 thriller "at all."

"I mean, you could actually say, and there's a quote I did, a pretty good quote: By the end of the third act you start to realize there's a DNA of the very first alien, but none of the subsequent aliens," he said. "To tell you what that is is a pity, and I'm not going to tell you, because it's actually good, pretty organic to the process and to the original. But we go back, we don't go forward."

The story for the upcoming film focuses on a team of explorers who discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth. The discovery leads them to a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Being scheduled to open in the U.S. theaters on June 8, "Prometheus" stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Logan Marshall-Green, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson and Guy Pearce.
