There is no trouble in paradise for Karina Smirnoff and fiance Brad Penny. Shortly after words came out that she has postponed her January wedding, the professional ballroom dancer revealed the real reason behind her decision, explaining that "Dancing With the Stars" was a huge factor.
When met after the show on Monday, October 17 night, the 33-year-old told PEOPLE that her work with celebrity partner J.R. Martinez has left her with no time to plan for the wedding. "There's absolutely no time," she said, before stressing, "I want to enjoy this and I want to enjoy planning the wedding and doing it together is just really hard."
With them sitting atop the leader board, Smirnoff added that she wanted to focus on the competition since she and Martinez have a chance of winning the mirror ball trophy this season. "I got an amazing partner and we spend so much time at the studio because we have a great shot at it," she shared. "And we truly enjoy putting together these great routines."
Still, the former fiancee of Maksim Chmerkovskiy stressed that she will resume the wedding planning when she is done with "DWTS". She said, "Once this is over, we're going to concentrate on the rest of the life," and Martinez quickly chimed in, "I want to be one of the bridesmaids."
