Brad Pitt has been offered by Warner Bros. Pictures to star in Doug Liman's "All You Need Is Kill". Vulture reported that after Liman's former project, "Luna", was canceled by Paramount Pictures, the director now focuses on the manga-adapted film project and wants the "Moneyball" actor to tackle the lead role.
Based on the Japanese manga by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, "All You Need Is Kill" follows a young Army recruit who dies on the battlefield against an alien invasion, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. Screenwriter Dante Harper re-writes the story after WB bought the rights for seven figures last spring.
The draft for "All You Need Is Kill" has reportedly been completed. However, the spouse of Angelina Jolie is said to have a dilemma because WB also wants him to star in "The Mission", which is written by Peter Landesman and centers on a U.S. Navy Seal's six-year-long rescue effort to free fifteen hostages from FARC rebels. Words are, David O. Russell is in talks with the studio to direct it.
