"Lincoln" adds one more actor to the already stellar line-up. Jackie Earle Haley has just signed up for the role of Alexander Stephens aka the vice president of the Confederate States during the Civil War, Deadline reports.

The Steven Spielberg-directed drama has nabbed Daniel Day-Lewis to play the titular role and Sally Field as Marry Todd. Haley's Stephens would provide the necessary twist in the story because the figure is the "nemesis of Lincoln's slavery reform agenda".

The film, which also stars Tommy Lee Jones and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, will start shooting this fall and would be released late 2012, after the presidential elections.

The director said that the film will focus on the last four months of Lincoln's life, roughly between December 1864 and April 15, 1865. Historically, the period includes the end of the Civil War, Lincoln's second inaugural address, and his assassination.
