'Just because you now have a ring on your finger doesn't mean you have to get married in three months,' the former 'Bachelor' star gives a pointer to the newly-engaged 'Bachelorette'.

Having found his other half through "The Bachelor", Jason Mesnick has got a piece of advise he'd like to share with "The Bachelorette" couple Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum. In an interview with PEOPLE, the 35-year-old warns the newly-engaged pair, "Don't rush."

"Just because you met on a TV show and just because you now have a ring on your finger doesn't mean you have to get married in three months," Jason points out. "Maybe it's a year. Maybe it's two years. Just make sure the relationship works the way you want it to." His wife, Molly Malaney, chimed in, "Focus only on each other. Do not let the media guide your life."

While stressing that what's important is to "focus on each other", Molly admits, "We're both grateful we were on the show when we were because [the media attention] is a lot worse now." She explains, "The show is on the covers of magazines every single week and it's lies after lies after lies just to sell these magazines."

Jason himself was a runner-up on season 4 of "The Bachelorette" and the leading man on season 13 of "The Bachelor". He got engaged to Melissa Rycroft in the season finale, but dumped her for Molly on the "After the Final Rose" special, reasoning that he had "these crazy feelings" for the runner-up.
